Bear the Consequences is a shifter erotic romance. It follows Finley and Alasdair. It is an insta-love romance,but they are shifters, they don't need to wine and dine. No, shifters sense their mate and that's it. I have come to like and expect that from this genre. Alasdair falls for the daughter of the man he seeks vengeance upon. Alasdair's sister, Annora, was harmed during her stay in Finley's pack. How she was hurt, I don't know. Her story was in Thrown to the Wolves. It's not necessary to read Annora’s story. Understanding Alasdair and Finley isn't dependent on reading the previous books.
I enjoyed reading this book. I found it appealing and entertaining. The book may be short but there is still enough to give the story depth. Paige does a great job in ensuring that book grabs the reader and carries them to the end.
When Finley's character starts out, i wasn't sure she had the backbone to be Alasdair's mate. When she gets fed up with his actions, the tough as nails wolf comes out. When that happens, she is a take no prisoners, I am woman hear me roar female. As a straight female, I have to say it was hot. To have her stare down four bear shifters and put them in their place is awesome.

Alasdair is a true alpha male but he clueless when it comes to Finley sometimes. It takes something dramatic to get Alasdair off his butt and see that he has something worth fighting for. When he finally realizes it, he refuses to let her go.
This is a great start to the McMahon Clan series. It has action, romance and very steamy love scenes. I can not wait to read the next book.
