Would you recognize true love if it sat down next to you? In this unforgettable new spinoff of the Billionaire books from New York Times bestselling indie author Melody Anne, two strangers must look past their painful memories to make way for everlasting love.

Alyssa's modeling career came to an abrupt end when her manager boyfriend emptied her bank account and ruined her professional reputation. Now she's heading to a new town in Montana to rebuild her life—if she can even get there (stupid delayed planes!). But things are looking up when she's upgraded to first class and a mysterious stranger sits down next to her…

Jackson Whitman doesn't believe in love, or commitment, or forever—not since he lost his wife and daughter. But the beautiful woman sitting next to him at the gate has him rethinking that position. Can he convince her to be his for the night? Or will she convince him to be hers for a lifetime?

Her Unexpected Hero is a part of its own series but is set within the Anderson’s world. We follow Jackson and Alyssa as they try to discover their love. Jackson is a brooding character. He prefers to be unattached rather than find loved. His past has left him jaded and he is cautious with his heart. Jackson doesn’t come off as pretentious but you get a slight air of arrogance. I think that comes from his guarded nature. Alyssa has just ended a long relationship that dragged her through the ringer. She too has been burned but she seems more open to the possibility of love. Alyssa is a strong character and she knows what she wants. She isn’t one who depends on a guy. I am glad and wish that there were more characters like her.
This book starts off good. Both characters meet and exchange stories. One thing leads to another and they hook up for one night. Alyssa does the walk of shame before Jackson gets up and this upsets him. He is used to having to push his conquests away, rather than have them sneak off. I like Alyssa abut I am not crazy about Jackson. I was disappointed in his character. I expected more from him. Yes he had a little alphaness but he seemed to be blind to everything around him. While everyone around him was figuring out Alyssa’s secret, he still had no clue.
The author does a great job at creating stories that take you to your fantasies. You know that when you open that book, you are going to be pulled in. With Her Unexpected Hero, I didn’t feel that pull. The writing seemed to keep you at a distance. This book seemed to have lost some of the magic that her previous books had. Melody Anne is one of my favorite authors and I will always enjoy her books.

4 out of 5 Stars!!
