Nate:
It’s nearly impossible to be surrounded by love but not understand it. My parents, my sister, and just about everyone around us has no trouble accepting that love. To give your trust to someone else and believe they would die before hurting you. I’ve witnessed it—I’ve seen the power of it—but I’ve also seen the pain. Because for me, I’ve only loved someone I could never have, and my biggest fear is that by giving her my love, all I would do is ruin her. I should have tried harder, but I’m not sure I can because I only feel complete when I’m with her.

Emberlyn:
The only time I feel like I belong is when he’s near. His infectious smile warms me straight to my bones. Any insecurities I have vanish with just a wink from him. A sliver of his attention makes me feel invincible. But all it took was one drunken night of truths for me to lose everything I had begun to crave. Now, I’m not sure how to move on because I only feel complete when I’m with him.

He said I was too young. I said he was perfect. He said our families wouldn’t understand. I said we could weather any storm. He said he would ruin me. And he was right.

My Review:

Just when I thought Harper Sloan's books couldn't get any better, she writes When I'm With You. OMG! This book is the best yet in the Hope Town series. This book is about Nate, the oldest child of Axel and Izzy, and Ember, the youngest child of Locke and Emmy. Like all of the Corps Security offspring, they grew up as friends. For Nate and Ember, their friendship blossoms into something more. Ember is the first to admit her love but Nate is hesitant because of who their parents are. I would be scared of Locke too if I was Nate. Lol.

“Keep following your heart, Ember. Follow it—me—and let me worry about guiding the way. Allow me to prove to you that I’m worthy of you giving me your love back."

After a come to Jesus talk with Locke, yeah he knows everything because you can't hide from Locke, Mate decides to get his act together and go after Ember. What began as a friendship blossoms into something that is to perfect for words. It leaves you falling in love with the characters and wishing you could go find your own Nate.

"I love you, Emberlyn Locke. I can’t change that we lost us for a while, but I can promise you with everything that I am that you will never, not for one second for the rest of our lives, know another day without that love.”

Harper Sloan brings romance fans exactly what they want, romance that is so steamy it will make your panties melt off and sweetness that will make your heart skip a beat. Her books are fantastic and I've never read one I didn't love.

I like that in this spin off series we get to catch up with our favorite Corps Security characters. I loved that in this book we get to see the fatherly side of Locke. He does have a sweet side but will always be the hard ass we have come to love.

I can't wait to read more from the author and anxiously await to see which book will top this one.

My Rating:

5 out of 5 Stars
