~~Review~~ City Lights by Colbie Kay

Title: City Lights (Satan's Sinners MC #1)
Author: Colbie Kay
Publisher: Self Published
Published Date: March 28, 2015
Genre: Romance/ Erotica/ Suspense
Page Count: 211

Zoey Porter has been wanting a way out. She wasn't expecting it to happen the way it did. Hanger, President of the Satan's Sinners, is an asshole. Never caring about anything or anybody except his self and his brothers. One night changes everything for the both of them and no one seen it coming. What happens when a sweet girl that's had her choices taken from her is found by Hanger? Will he start having more to care about and want to give her the life back that she lost?

With the boom of MC related books, you don't often find one that stands out. Kay's book, City Lights, stands out as a fantastic kickoff to the series. When most books, in this genre, either have too much sex or violence, Kay is able to find a happy medium.

Zoey is more than expected. Having come out of a violent relationship, you would expect her to be timid. Instead she shoots out with gusto and toughness. I admire her tenacity. She's not written as a character who is intimidating but one who is likable.

Hanger is a hardcore MC president. He never expected to find love. His character is emotional yet tough. He is the epitome of a MC president but has a softer side that is see with Zoey and her family. I love his character, especially after he learns sign language to communicate with Zoey's sister.

All of the characters work well together to help create this atmosphere. The only thing I have to say about them is that I wanted to know more about Ever and Writer and Bear and Jacey. I felt that their story-lines were not as developed as the others. I hope that we get more information on them in the future.

I loved Kay's storytelling. Especially when it came to Zoey. After leaving an abusive relationship, she did not just throw her character into another. She took her time and had them get to know each other first. I appreciate that. It seemed more real. I truly enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Release Day Blitz and Review: Vengeance is Mine by Kasey Millstead

Title: Vengeance is Mine
Author: Kasey Millstead
 Release Date: August 20, 2014

SYNOPSIS
Target - Spades Motorcycle Club
They call me The Praying Mantis.
Because after I fuck my target, I kill them.
Vengeance is Mine is a dramatic tale of revenge by way of fatal fucking.

“Look what I did,” I say, grabbing a handful of his cock. “I’m such a naughty girl.” I rub my hand up and down, never breaking eye contact with him.

From USA Today bestselling author Kasey Millstead comes a book that will leave you gripping the edge of your seat as you live the life of Ella Moore. With a heart that's been hardened by the tragic death of her parents, she sets in motion a lethal chain of events that will eventually avenge her parents murders.

'Before my parent’s tragic death, I had never been vengeful person. I was nice, quiet, friendly and definitely a glass-half-full kind of girl. But death has a way of changing everything.'

Ella Moore is the epitome of a badass.

REVIEW

Vengeance is Mine is a darker story compared to Millstead's other bodies of work. It is a tale about a woman seeking vengeance against the ones who killed her parents. It is reminiscent of Lili St Germain's Gypsy Brothers series. So if you enjoy St Germain's work, you'll enjoy this one.
The story is a fast paced read. You don't have to wait to see what happens, you get it all in one swoop. I had wished that it was longer. I wanted the storyline to be more developed when it came to Alecia's parents. I would have loved to have seen more interaction between her and her parents before everything happened.
I also wonder would Alecia ever had gotten revenge had the informant not contacted her? Was it really necessary to drag her into it and completely change her life? Why not have a voice of reason try to talk her out of it more.
I like how Millstead wrote this book without all the gruesome violence. There is talk of violence but no real description. Even when she has Alecia/Ella getting her vengeance she's pretty clean about it.
While I am a fan of Millstead's work, I have to say this one is not one of my favorites. I feel as a reader, you are not given the chance to know all the characters as well as you may want. That all being said, I hope that there will be future books containing Alecia and a certain someone. I would love to see what happens after the smoke has cleaned, per say.  This books is for readers 18+.

This book is one of two and does not contain an exact HEA as the reader may expect, yet. “You are mine. You’ve been mine since you took those training wheels off that pink bike of yours and fell at my feet. Never even cried, you didn’t. Just sat on my lap trusting that I had you. Along with my best friend Sadey, we’ve all grown up together. I don’t have a memory that isn’t surrounded by the four of us. As years passed, she vowed to save all of herself for him with the hope that one day he would see her as the woman she was turning herself into, not just the child he remembers. Sharing the same mother, Mace’s father refuses to accept Hem as his own, leading him to a life similar to that of his biological father. Review: Climbing Out by Lila Rose

Title: Climbing Out (Hawks Motorcycle Club #2)

Author: Lila Rose

Publisher: Lila Rose

Page Count: 197

Genre: Romance/Erotica

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Blurb:

Deanna Drake has a past she longs to forget, but won't ever be able to. She's always been the tough one. No one, but her best friend Zara has ever been able to penetrate her cold, hard, shell.

Until Griz

Griz— a.k.a Grady Daniels, Hawks Motorcycle Club second in command, also has a past that he wishes he could undo...all except one part.

It's her past that brings them together. Only will it be forever?

My Review:

What I loved about Climbing Out:
Deanna's vulnerability is shown in this book. In Holding Out, she was shown as this tough take no gruff woman. Now we see that she is just human.
We learn more about Griz and his life outside of the MC.
The author doesn't have Deanna and Griz professing their love for one another early in the book. I appreciate that. Most authors rush to have the characters fall in love rather than get to know each other.
Julian has to be the best character. I love him. He is always hitting on the bikers just for the help of it. He reminds me of Sway from Harper Sloan's Corps series.

What I didn't love:
I felt it was another book where it reached a certain point and then the story is rushed through. There is mention of Jason briefly throughout and then bam. He is seen then gone as quickly as he came. I had hoped for more to that part of the story.

Overall I have to say I still loved the book. I have looked forward to Griz and Deanna's story since the beginning. I look forward to the next book from the author. A definite recommend read. Should only be read by adults 18+ due to HOT and STEAMY sex scenes. ;)

Review: Dragon's Lair by Chantal Fernando

Title: Dragon's Lair (Wind Dragons MC #1)

Author: Chantal Fernando

Publisher: Chantal Fernando

Page Count: 255

Genre: New Adult, Romance

My Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Blurb:

When I found my boyfriend cheating on me, I did something stupid.

Or should I say, someone?

Because of that mistake, I’m now stuck in a world I don’t belong in.

I’m a law student. They’re criminals.
He’s the Vice President of a MC. I’m a good girl with a strict upbringing.

He’s my ex-boyfriend’s brother.
And I’m screwed.

My Review:

Dragon's Lair contains romance that will leave you panting. The connection between Dex and Faye is immediate. They try to fight it but love can not be denied.
Action is in place too. With an MC book it is almost expected. There is some violence but nothing graphic or gritty.
I loved the humor in the story too. It helps to lighten the mood. The author does well to break up the tension in the storyline with humor. Faye's demeanor with the other bikers is hilarious. Especially when she cleans their rooms. The fact that she watches Sons of Anarchy to get tips is funny. I would too, if I was seeing a biker.

My only thing  that I didn't like was that I wished the book was longer. At some points it felt rushed through. I wanted to get to know certain characters more, and I feel I didn't get a chance to.

Overall the book was an enjoyable read. I was able to sit down it get through it in a few hours. I look forward to her next book in the series. I'm sure it will be awesome. I definitely recommend this read for ages 18+.

My Review:

Worth The Battle is book 4 in the Heaven Hills series. This one involves Jessica Shea and Layne O'Connor. I want to say I love the series and have been a fan since book one. But this book was not one of my favorites. There are a few reasons.
The first is that Jessica is a well known movie star and she is suppose to drop everything to be a part of the MC. Is she not that recognisable or do people not care? If I saw a celebrity in my town I would freak out. That's just me.
Second, the issue with Layne's PTSD. I think this could have been better addressed. It is so common to say that someone in the military has PTSD, but if you use the storyline you should embrace it. I felt that the author tiptoed on this one.  The author has this medium that could have been used for educating others about it. I wish that she would have dove more into that storyline.
Does all this mean I hated the book? No. I am still a fan of the series. I just didn't love this one. I liked it. I enjoyed the fact that we got more Meredith and Tyler time. I hope that they get a novella in the future.
Mrs. Briscoe is an excellent writer and her books are entertaining. I love the fact that occasionally she'll bring some humor to the MC world. It doesn't need to be all dark.
I recommend this book but I suggest reading them in order. This is a 18 and over read.
