Blog Tour ~~Review~~ Uncontrollable by C.A. Harms

Title: Uncontrollable
Series: Key West Series #3
Author: C.A. Harms
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: September 15, 2015
Avery Nolan’s father has never been a part of her life. As a result, she finds herself becoming a caretaker. Always trying to please other people, willing to tuck her own concerns aside for the happiness of others. She is selfless. She is a nurturer. On the outside, it appears Kade Thomas has it all, but no one can understand the guilt and ache he feels daily. He is haunted by his past. Every time he closes his eyes, he finds himself reliving the same nightmare, over and over again. He blames himself for the loss of Jenna. He pushed her too far and she paid the price. Avery saw something special in Kade, from the first day she met him—she could feel it. But the darkness that consumes him is… Uncontrollable. Will she finally be the one to break down the walls he’s built around his heart and soul? Or will she find some walls are just Indestructible…

In C.A. Harms third book in the Key West series, we are given the story of Kade and Avery. Kade is the one who looks like he has his life together. Secretly he is killing himself with the guilt of a tragic accident that happened years earlier. He blames himself because he feels that he could have done something. It’s classic survivor’s guilt. Instead of accepting that the past can not be changed, he tries to drink the pain away. Kade meets Avery and she is everything that he wants. What holds him back is his belief that he doesn’t deserve to find happiness. With determination and love, Avery proves to Kade that he deserves a chance to be happy.

Harms’ books are always emotional and this one is no exception. Reading Kade’s story is hard because you can see that the guilt is taking a toll on him. He pushes everyone away including his friends. Harms’ interpretation of Kade’s story shows that even guys can be vulnerable and emotional. Being this way doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human.

Avery’s part in the story is that she wants to take care of Kade. She has to push her natural instincts away because she knows that he has to get better for himself. I like Avery’s character because she is a strong female and stands her ground.

We are introduced to some of Jude’s story and it’s one I can not wait to read. =)

Harms’ storytelling is phenomenal. She has a way with bringing emotion and humor to create a great balance in her books. She is among some of my favorite authors and is probably why I continue to read her books. I highly recommend that you read this series if you haven’t already.

My Rating:

Avery POV

“Oh yes,” I moaned much louder than I anticipated. The problem was I didn’t feel the slightest bit embarrassed. “Yes, right there, a little harder, deeper,” I instructed as my eyes rolled back into my head and I fisted the sheet beneath me.

“Does that feel good right there?”

All I could do was nod. I was entirely too invested in the pleasure to form complete, meaningful sentences.

“Wow.” Harper’s voice broke through my euphoria. “If I didn’t know better myself, I would think there was a whole lot of kink going on in here. My customers are gonna think I’m running a secret sex shop in the massage room.”

I wanted to yell at her to stop killing my buzz, but the words got hung up when I tried to force them out. The only sound I could make was moan after moan of ecstasy.

I hadn’t even noticed the moans coming from Quinn on the next bed over until that moment. “Harper, you are without a doubt the most amazing sister-in-law.” Quinn groaned as the massage therapist, Greg, rubbed her lower back, digging in just a little deeper.

“I’ll also be your dead sister-in-law if you keep moaning like that. Jett will kill me if he hears you. It already took hours to convince him to let you come today. Last week when you girls came in, he stood guard outside the doorway.”

“Greg thought he was going to die a slow death. Jett scared the hell out of him.” I caught the alarmed look on Greg’s face and buried my face in the headrest to hide my laughter. Jett was a caveman to begin with, but his behavior had only intensified after the wedding.

“Okay, okay, enough about Jett,” Quinn whined. “Greg can’t concentrate when you’re scaring him. Please do not kill my massage.”

Harper snickered and turned back to me, her gaze scanning over me. “How are you feeling?” It was a loaded question. She was asking about the pregnancy, Kade, and the situation between him and me.

“Good,” I assured her without giving her anything more. I closed my eyes and hoped she’d drop it.

I have no idea why I actually thought Harper would let it die.

“That’s all you’re giving me? Honestly, Avery, spill some details.” When I opened my eyes, she was using the “determined Harper” glare.

I stared right back. “Bug Quinn for gossip.”

“Um, no.” She leaned back against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest. “Jett is my brother, and the last thing I want is too many details when it comes to those two. Quinn knows this. That’s why she always throws things back at me that I don’t need to know. My brother taught her to evade me like that, so getting details out of her is no longer any fun. The last thing I want to know is how long my brother lasted this morning or how they had sex on the kitchen table.”

She faked a shiver and I laughed. I looked over at Quinn, and she nodded to confirm what Harper had just said.

“Well done,” I told her. “Table sex.” Then a thought occurred to me. “You are going to bleach said table when you get home, right? I mean, we’ve eaten dinner off it.”

Kade POV
“Here’s the address,” Easton said as he passed the paper over the top of the table toward me. “Bennie said they live in a ranch-style home at the end of the lane.”
Vermont. They stuck around for a few months after the funeral and then picked up and moved thousands of miles away. Running from the place where they saw their daughter everywhere they looked.
“You sure about this, Kade?” Jett asked as he sat down in the booth next to me.
“Yeah, I am. It’s something I have to do. It’s the last step before I can say good-bye to Jenna,” I explained as I twisted the paper between my fingers. “I’m ready to move on with Avery, and I can’t do that until I do this.”
My stomach was in knots at the idea of facing Jenna’s parents. I had no idea what to expect, but I wanted to close this chapter.
“I’m gonna need something from you, Jett,” I said as I looked up from my hands.
“And what would that be, brother?” he asked.
“Keep an eye on my girl,” I said, and he grinned widely and nodded as Easton chuckled. “Yeah, I know. You never thought you’d see the day, right?”
Jett placed his hand on my shoulder and patted it.
“Nope, I didn’t, but it looks good on ya.” “What does?” I asked.
“Love, infatuation, whatever you wanna call it,” Easton said.
“Pussy-whipped, henpecked, does it matter how you refer to it?” Jude flopped down in the seat next to Easton, chuckling. “Avery has you wrapped around her pinky, and you are sunk to the deepest depths, brother.”
I smiled. “Where the hell did you come from?”
“I’ve been quietly observing this exchange you three were having.” He leaned back, waiting for me argue with what he had said. But he was right. It was pointless. Avery had me tied up tight, and there was no coming back.
I enjoy happy endings in my love stories. Loving those scenes that give it the needed angst and heat to keep you hooked and wanting more. Just enough drama to make her heart race and your stomach flutter. I haven't always been a lover of Romance and had once been addicted to a good Mystery. Just recently I have taken on a new liking and now I am addicted to Romance Novel.
I am a Limitless Publishing Author and love sharing my stories with my great fans. Feedback is great and I really enjoy interacting with my readers.
I live in Illinois and enjoy spending time with my husband and two children.
You will always find me with my kindle or paperback in hand as it is my favorite pass time.
And I never leave home without a small notebook. You never know when an idea for a new story will strike.

ARC Review- Immortal Moon by June Stevens

Title: Immortal Moon: A Moon Sisters Novel
Series: Paranorm World Series Book #2
Author: June Stevens
Publisher: Crimson Tree Publishing
Publish Date: November 9, 2015
Genre: Paranormal/Dystopian
Page Count:300

**I received a copy of this book, from the author, in exchange for a honest review.**

Anya Moon only has one personal rule: Don't date vampires. She never dreamed the price for breaking it could be her life.
In his five hundred years as an assassin, Jarrett Campbell has never gone beyond a one-night stand with a woman. As a vampire, he knows a lasting relationship with a Norm is out of the question. But Anya Moon is just too intriguing to pass up. A two-week fling can't hurt as long as they both know how it will end… right?
Caught up in a romance he never expected, Jarrett forgets that his life as an assassin is never safe... especially when one of his past targets returns from the dead. Now he is in a race against time to save Anya, but is her life worth his death?

Immortal Moon is the second book in this series. We follow the middle Moon sister Anya and her budding relationship with the uber sexy vampire Jarrett. The book opens just how any book should, showcasing how kick ass Anya is. We read about her taking down guys twice her size and walking away from it. I love reading about female leads that are like this. No one wants to read about some weak female. We want ones that can stand on their own.
Anya doesn't seek out her relationship with Jarrett, it just happens. Maybe it was meant to be. Even though she has a "No Vampire" rule,  secretly you think she made the rule because she is waiting on a certain brown eyed vampire.
If you have read the previous book, you read about the two of them meeting. Now we follow them as they try to start a relationship. Because of Jarrett's job and Anya's apprehension, a relationship doesn't seem to be in the stars. When a enemy shows their face, a new path is created that may further end any attempt at a relationship.

We do get some background into Anya's story. She has a tortured past. Thanks to Pinky, she was able to leave the situation.

I loved this book and felt that it was even better than it's predecessor. This book focuses more on romance rather than suspense. Lets face it, we all like some steamy romance.
Stevens does a great job in creating this story. It's not like most dystopian novels, there is still a functioning structure to the city involved. She is able to bring in a lot of aspects of pop culture to make the story readable to the readers. I loved that Jarrett referred to himself as Batman when Anya asked about his powers. Stevens paints a vivid picture with her writing. It engages the audience and keeps them hanging on till the end.

Overall this was a very enjoyable book. I was a little sad at the end because it is a cliffhanger. =( I knew it was inevitable but I still don't like them. I highly recommend that you read this series if you haven't done so yet.

5 out of 5 Stars

Review- Protecting Melody by Susan Stoker

Title: Protecting Melody
Series: SEAL of Protection #7
Author: Susan Stoker
Publisher: Self Published
Published Date: September 8, 2015
Genre: Romance/Suspense/Military
Page Count: 185

**I received a copy of this book, from the author, in exchange for a honest review.**

Tex gave everything he had to his country and his SEAL teammates. When an IED took away part of his leg, and his career, he devoted himself to his country and friends from behind his computer. He’s always been the man that can find anyone, that uses his computer skills, legal and illegal, to keep people safe and to put the bad guys behind bars.

But behind a computer is a lonely place to be. While he might put on a good front, Tex can’t help but feel he’s missing out when he sees how happy his friends are. But when the woman he’s been talking to online for the last six months suddenly disappears without a word, Tex knows it’s time to step up, and use his skills for himself this time.

The most anticipated book in the SEAL of Protection series is Tex's book, Protecting Melody. The reason it is the most anticipated is because Tex has been through everything with everyone since book one. He is actually the hero in all the books because his behind the scenes magic is what saved lives. As a huge fan of the series, I couldn't wait for Tex to get his book. Of course Stoker had to put it towards the end.

Most are probably wondering, "Does it live up to the hype?". I'm here to say that it does. I'm not going to rewrite the synopsis aka blurb, and I'm not going to give spoilers. Sorry people, you are just going to have to suffer the suspense and read the book. I will say that there is an air of mystery that surrounds Tex. Who is this guy that is basically everyone's lifeline? Some of the mystery is ripped away and we get to know Tex a little more. This is shown through his POV of the time when he was helping Fiona through her panic attack at the mall. That was a big moment for them and it created a bond with them. Seeing his vulnerability and his fear that he couldn't help her, it added so much more dimension to his character.

Tex's love interest is Melody. If you thought Tex was a mystery, Melody is an even bigger one. She has a good reason too. I like Melody for Tex. She seems to understand Tex more than anyone. On some aspects she understands him more than his SEAL family. We know that he loves Wolfe and the gang but they don't know the emotional side of Tex that Melody gets to see.

The romance seems fast paced in this book but you have to remember that they have known each other for over 6 months. Sure they just met face to face but they have known each other longer. It's not an insta-love like in other books.

I was left in suspense towards the end. You are not quite sure who did it and when you find out you are doing a double take. Stoker sets the reader up very well for this one. The suspense also takes an emotional turn. It left me needing some Kleenex.

This book and this book series have not disappointed. I found myself eagerly awaiting each book. Sadly there is only one more book in this series. I wholeheartedly recommend that you read this series. It has everything, romance, suspense, and alpha males. ;)

5 out of 5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!! I <3 Tex!
