Finding Gavin is a love story about two people finally
finding the happiness that they deserve. It is an emotional and fun ride that
the characters Gavin and Maria take. For fans of Kelly Elliot’s Wanted series,
you will find what you are looking for in C.A. Harms’ Southern Boys series.
Finding Gavin, carries on the story for Maria and Gavin from
Forgiving Reed. We learn more about both characters in book two and understand
why they are in the emotional place that they are. Gavin is a guy who has been
burned in the past. He is jaded when it comes to love and is not expect to find
love with Maria. Most people would not like Gavin’s character because of the
way he treated Maria, but I like his honesty.
Maria is emotionally scarred and feels that she is not
worthy of happiness. When Gavin comes alone she gets her hopes up but they
crash when Gavin goes away. I love the vulnerability of Maria. No matter what
she does, she knows that there is a chance of failure but takes the chance
anyway. As a reader, you are able to find pieces of her life that you can
relate to.
Harms has a great way of pulling the reader in with her
emotional tales of searching for love and finding it. All of her stories have
some aspect that speaks to the reader about themselves. I love when you can
find a part of a story that fits you. It is as if the author is speaking to
you. I found that with a touching scene between Maria and her dad. Having gone
through an emotional time myself this past month with my parent, that scene
tugged at my heart strings.
This book is highly recommended, as well as the series. For
those who read Forgiving Reed, you get to catch up with Kori and Reed, as well
as find out who the next book is about. I’m not telling, my lips are sealed. =)
