Title: Execution Style
Series: Code-11 KPD SWAT #4
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: August 5, 2015
Miller Spurlock might seem like a laid back man on the outside, but piss him off, or violate his trust, and he’ll show you the meaning of pain.
He was a Navy SEAL. He could kill a man a hundred different ways and not break a sweat.
He’s also a police officer and member of the SWAT team, which means he has the knowledge and skills to get away with it.
Rage boils in his gut when he witnesses what happens to the beautiful Mercy Shepherd during a SWAT op from hell that even his worst nightmare couldn’t conjure up. And it surprises the hell out of him when she wants him, and him only, to comfort her in the aftermath.
Miller becomes the one shining beacon of light at the bottom of Mercy’s pit of despair.
The one man that could pull her through the rough days ahead and make her whole again.
And during her road back to herself, she realizes that she’s got the one thing she ever wanted in life…a hero to call her own.
Author Interview
Avid Reader Amy's Reviews: Code 11 KPD SWAT is the newest addition to your romance collection. Can you tell us a little bit about the SWAT guys and what to expect in upcoming books?
Lani Lynn Vale: Lets see.Fosters book is next. If you havent read Exectuion Style yet, then theres a pretty life altering event that happens to Foster, and his book is mostly about him overcoming the life hes been handed. Bennetts book will follow, then Michaels just after that. My SWAT guys are as real as you get. The live hard, and laugh often. A lot of times they are inappropriate, but thats just the way they like to blow off steam. The women who are their matches will have to put up with a lot, but my guys are worth it.
ARA'sR: All of your books seem to interlock no matter the series. How do you keep separate without mixing up a storyline?
LLV: LOL! I dont do so hot on that, so I had to start a word file that tells me who everyone is, who theyre related to, and what they do as an occupation. If anyone saw it theyd think it was a complete mess.
ARA'sR: I found Execution Style to be a little more emotional than your other books. Was it difficult writing Mercy's scenes after everything that happened?
LLV: Gosh yes. Im no expert on what happened to her, so I did quite a bit of research. Spoke with a few ladies that had experienced it, and overall winged it.
I hope I did it justice, because it really was hard to write having never experienced it.
ARA'sR: Like all the leading men in your books, Miller is very good looking. Where do you find inspiration for your male characters?
LLV: Pinterest, real life. Have you visted Furousfotogs facebook page? Because hot damn, the models he takes photos of are breathtaking.
ARA'sR: Speaking of inspiration, if Execution Style was a movie who would you cast as Miller and Mercy?
LLV: Hmmm, I dont really know, to be honest. I think theyre a mishmash of about fifteen different people. If I had to pick, though, itd Scott Eastwood and Ashley Greene
ARA'sR: If you could live as one of your characters for 24 hours who would it be and why?
LLV: Ohhhh, thats tough. If I had to pick, itd be Cheyenne from my very first published book, Boomtown.
She was my baby, the one character that I gave all my hopes and dreams to.
ARA'sR: What 3 books should every book lover add to their personal library?
LLV: Anything Kristen Ashleyand I cant just choose one of those. Saving Grace by Julie Garwood. And any Night Huntress novel by Jeaniene Frost
ARA'sR: What is your current work in progress?
LLV: I'm working on another MC book that is completely new with none of the same characters from my previous series. Then a paranormal dragon book. I expect both of them to be released March and April of next year.
ARA'sR: Do you have any additional information you would like to add?
LLV: Ill have a website soon, so if you have any questions about the reading order, please feel free to message me on Facebook. (I get that all the time.) Also, yes, I do plan on writing Tai from the Kilgore Fire Department series, hes the next book Ill be writing once Im done with my current WIP.
The more books I read by Lani Lynn Vale, the bigger fan I become. I am grateful that I have the awesome opportunity to read ARC's of her books. I do want to give a trigger warning about a scene in the book.
The book kicks off from the first chapter. You are thrown into a SWAT situation. This is where Mercy and Miller meet. It is also a pretty intense scene. From the moment the Mercy and Miller meet, you can tell a bond was formed. Mercy grounds Miller. He is the perpetual bachelor. In Downy's book he had sex so roughly, that he thrust the girl through the wall. Hilarious scene btw. He sees a future with Mercy. He sees home.
Miller is Mercy's saving grace. When she should have crawled inside of her shell after the traumatic event, he was there to ensure that she was okay. His words of encouragement during her therapy session were beautiful and just what she needed to hear.
From the moment the Spurlock boys made there appearance in Trance's book, I have been waiting on their books. They are notoriously crazy and funny but also unconditionally caring. I loved reading about them and look forward to Foster's book.
When I started reading this book and I got past the first chapter, I was skeptical that the storyline would be written in a caring way. Vale didn't let me down. She showed that there are different ways to deal with experiences. That everyone copes differently. She did Mercy's character justice. I applaud her on that.
So do I recommend this book? Duh. You need to get a copy asap.

I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 5, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas.
