Angie Smith has been through a lot in her life. After surviving a horrible break up, she gave up on love and instead spent countless nights focusing on nursing school. Now working her dream job and spending time with friends, Angie is happier than ever.

But when one fateful night has her reuniting with the boy who use to live next door, she isn’t sure she can resist him.

Chase Johnson had nothing keeping him in town, and knew the Marines were what was best for him. Home on leave after boot camp Chase is ready to set off and see the world, not looking for a woman to capture his heart. That all changes the night he meets the neighbor from his past. Angie is beautiful, down to earth and everything he never knew he wanted.

Unable to ignore their feelings for each other Chase and Angie surrender to the undeniable chemistry.
But when the Marine Corps ships Chase off, Angie is left behind, waiting and wondering if their love is really strong enough to survive.

My Review:

Surviving For Us is a military based romance that focuses on the emotional hardship of the relationship. The story takes a look at Chase and Angie's relationship as they try to build one long distance. The situation is made harder when Chase is deployed and Angie is left dealing with everything on her own. A big wrench is thrown into their relationship when Chase returns but has trouble dealing with everything he saw overseas. They struggle to find each other again. Once they do, they find that their love is stronger than before.

Chase and Angie's story is a wonderful read. It's not one of the insta-love stories but one that progresses over time. I loved reading about them and rooting for them to get their HEA. The story is well balanced and gives us some insight into to the secondary characters, Jenn and Chris's lives. I'm glad that we do because they are a big part of Angie and Chase's lives. I found that the book was not overly emotional but you still find some connection with the characters. Some spots were a little draggy but overall it was a great read.

My Rating:
4 out of 5 Stars
